Searching for the best crypto sign-up bonus turns up numbers that cannot all be true: $10 on one site, 10,000 USDT on the next, $2,500 on a third. They are all real in their own way. They just measure different things. A $10 reward paid in Bitcoin and a 10,000 USDT package of futures bonuses are not the same product, and a bonus that needs $5,000 of trading costs more to earn than one that needs $100.
So this page ranks welcome bonuses the way you would judge any deal: by what you get to keep and what it costs you to get it. Every number comes from our individual reviews, and the table at the top lists every program tagged as offering a sign-up bonus, sorted by our scores. Below we break down the three numbers behind each crypto bonus sign-up offer, group the programs by how they pay, and show where the real value sits.
The three numbers behind every sign-up bonus
The headline is the figure on the banner. It is almost always a maximum, built by adding up every task at every tier. Bitget’s 6,200 USDT, Toobit’s 15,000 USDT and BTCC’s 10,055 USDT are headlines.
The cost to unlock is what you must deposit, hold or trade, and by when. Binance needs a $10 deposit and a $10 trade within 14 days. Crypto.com’s full $75 needs $5,000 of trading volume within 30 days of KYC approval. Nexo’s global reward needs $5,000 or more added within 30 days and kept for another 30.
The withdrawable value is the part that can leave the platform as crypto or cash. For some programs it is the whole bonus. For many it is zero, because the reward is a fee voucherA credit that pays part of your trading fees. It saves money only if you trade enough before it expires, and it cannot be withdrawn. or a futures bonus. Our reviews record this in a dedicated line, and it is the first thing we suggest you read.
Sign-up bonuses ranked by withdrawable value

The pattern is clear. Rewards paid in real crypto are small, usually $10 to $50, and they come from regulated exchanges that pay only through a friend’s referral. The large headlines come from offshore exchanges and are paid in forms that never leave the platform. Neither is wrong. They are aimed at different people.
Bonuses paid in real crypto
These are the cleanest welcome offers, and the ones we would point a first-time buyer to. Gemini pays $50 in a crypto of your choice in the US, Hong Kong and New Zealand, €20 in eligible EEA countries and AUD 50 in Australia, after you verify and trade $100 within 30 days. The reward arrives 32 days after sign-up, and Gemini says you can sell it whenever you like.
Coinbase pays a referral bonus that varies by country after a qualifying purchase within 90 days of verification. Kraken pays up to $20 USDG on its main app offer, and up to $100 on its Canadian and Australian pages. Binance.US pays $10 to each side, with a 30-day withdrawal hold. In Australia, CoinSpot and Swyftx both pay $10 AUD in Bitcoin.
Crypto.com pays in CRO on a ladder: $5 at $100 of volume, $15 at $500, $25 at $1,000 and $75 at $5,000, plus $25 more if you stake CRO or reserve a metal card. The CRO is yours, but its value moves with the market, so the dollar figure is only exact on the day it lands.
Bonuses paid as investment rewards or tokens
A few programs pay in proportion to how much you put in. Bitpanda pays up to €100 in five steps as you invest €500, €1,000, €2,000, €5,000 and €10,000 in crypto, credited as a voucher balance that its terms say cannot be redeemed for cash. Nexo pays up to $2,500 in NEXO Tokens globally, calculated as half of 0.5% of your average 30-day balance, which means you need a balance of around a million dollars to reach the cap. For a $5,000 balance, the formula gives about $12.50.
YouHodler advertises up to $500 but publishes no public terms for it, which is why it scores low on transparency. Treat a bonus without written terms as zero until it is in your account.
Bonuses paid as fee vouchers and fee refunds
Fee-based bonuses save real money only if you trade. Binance splits its up to $100 into $20, $30 and $50 vouchers for verifying, depositing $10 and trading $10. Each redeemed voucher lasts 3 days, so a casual buyer rarely uses it all. Bitvavo refunds trading fees on your first €10,000 of volume within 7 days of creating the account, paid in euro. That is a refund of fees you actually pay, and it is worth the most if you place your main purchase in the first week.
Gate offers up to 100 USDT in invite token vouchers plus a beginner package listed at 125 USDT in vouchers. Margex gives a $50 bonus that reimburses fees and funding, claimable without a deposit.
Futures bonuses: the biggest numbers, the least you can keep
This is where the headlines live: Bitget 6,200 USDT, Toobit 15,000 USDT, Bitunix and WEEX 10,000 USDT, MEXC new-user tasks up to 10,000 USDT, BingX 7,000 USDT and BloFin 5,000 USDT. Bybit pays up to 250 USDT in referee rewards, and Phemex pays 10 USDT to the invited friend.
Almost all of this is futures bonus or trial fundsBonus funds credited for trading. You can trade with them and keep the profit, but the funds themselves are taken back or expire.. You cannot withdraw them, and they expire: MEXC’s futures bonuses after 15 days, KCEX’s after 7. Profits made with them can usually be withdrawn. If you trade leveraged futures, these bonuses give you a buffer against early losses. If you do not, they are close to worthless. Smaller futures exchanges like Bitrue, BTCC, BYDFi, KCEX, Poloniex, XT and CoinEx follow the same pattern with smaller amounts or rotating campaigns.
Crypto apps with a sign-up bonus beyond exchanges
Not every bonus comes from an exchange. Pionex pays newbie tasks of 10 to 50 USDT each as Growth Funds, but every task needs a total deposit of at least 50 USDT and the principal is reclaimed after 7 days. RedotPay gives a 5 USD new-user reward that can only be spent with its card. Ledger gives a $5 to $20 BTC gift card on a first device purchase. Bitget Wallet gives up to 5 GASU gas credits to new wallets created with a code.
These are small, but some are among the few rewards that cost nothing extra if you were buying the product anyway. Ledger’s BTC gift, for example, is genuinely withdrawable.
Start Earning from ReferralsHow to claim a sign-up bonus without losing it
Pick the program before you register, because on most platforms the referral is fixed at sign-up. Read the deadline and note when it starts. Bitvavo’s 7 days start when you create the account, not when verification finishes. Coinbase’s 90 days start after identity verification.
Finish KYCKnow Your Customer: identity verification with an ID document and usually a selfie. early, since almost every welcome reward depends on it. Our KYC guide explains what each verification level unlocks. Then respect holding rules: several exchanges cancel the bonus if you withdraw during the challenge period. Finally, keep a record of the date and value of every reward you receive. In the US and many other countries, a sign-up bonus counts as income; our tax guide for referral rewards has the details.
If you want a bonus without depositing at all, read our no-deposit bonuses page first. The short version is that real no-deposit rewards are rare and small. US residents should start with the US crypto bonuses list, since most of the futures exchanges above are closed to them.
Red flags in sign-up bonus offers
A bonus with no published terms, like YouHodler’s advertised $500, cannot be valued. A headline that differs across a platform’s own pages, as BTCC’s does, is a warning about everything else. Any page that asks for your password, seed phrase or a wallet signature to “activate” a sign-up bonus is phishing. And any site still promoting BitMart bonuses is out of date, since registrations there are suspended. Our guide to fake crypto bonuses has a full checklist. For everything about referral codes beyond the welcome reward, the exchange referral comparison goes deeper into kickbacks.
