How to claim it, step by step
- Step 1
Open the Poloniex sign-up page with the code attached
Use a referral link, or check the Referral Code box on the registration form and type the code in yourself. There is no way to add it after the account is created.
- Step 2
Create the account and finish verification
Register with email, then complete Level 1 and Level 2 verification. Poloniex only lets verified accounts take part in the referral program, and Advanced KYC is required before you can withdraw.
- Step 3
Log in to the Poloniex app within 7 days
The Mystery Box only counts if you sign in to the mobile app within 7 days of registering. Web-only users miss it even if they trade enough.
- Step 4
Trade at least 500 USDT of spot in week one
Spot volume of 500 USDT or more within 7 days qualifies you for the box. Stablecoin pairs, zero-fee trades and trades paid with coupons do not count.
- Step 5
Collect the daily USDT rebate
Your 10% rebate lands in USDT the day after each trading day (T+1). Spot rebates stop 60 days after sign-up; futures rebates stop 60 days after you open the futures account.
Search for a Poloniex referral code and you will find dozens of pages promising “$1,000 bonuses” and “20% off fees”. Poloniex’s own rules are much plainer. The person who invites you earns 20% of your trading fees. You get 10% of your own fees back for 60 days. On top of that sits an occasional Mystery Box, worth anything up to 100 USDT, for new users who log in to the app and trade a little in their first week.
That is the whole package. It is not huge, but it is honest in one useful way: the rebate is paid in USDT, every day, and you can see the formula. This review walks through each piece with Poloniex’s own numbers so you can judge whether the code matters for the way you trade.
- 10%of your own net trading fees returned in USDT
- 60 daysrebate window for spot, and again for futures
- 100 USDTceiling of the Mystery Box, not a guaranteed amount
- 500 USDTspot volume within 7 days to qualify for the box
What a Poloniex referral code actually gives you
Poloniex describes its program as a 30% commission split. For every trade you make, 30% of the fee you paid is redistributed: 20% to your inviter and 10% back to you. The difference between the two sides is time. Your 10% stops after 60 days. Your inviter’s 20% has no expiry date at all.
| Part of the offer | Who gets it | Size | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fee rebate | You | 10% of net fees | 60 days |
| Referral commission | Inviter | 20% of net fees | No end date |
| Mystery Box | Both of you | Up to 100 USDT each | One box per invitee, valid 7 days |
| Ambassador tier | Approved inviters | Up to 60% commission | Application only |
The rebate you get is a fee rebateA rebate (or kickback) is part of the fee you already paid, returned to you afterwards. With a 10% rebate, $10 of fees ends up costing you $9., not a lower fee rate. You pay the normal fee on each trade, and Poloniex sends 10% of it back the next day. The practical result is the same as a 10% discount, but it shows up in your wallet history as a separate USDT credit rather than a smaller fee line.
The 10% rebate and its two 60-day clocks
Here is a detail most code pages miss. Poloniex runs two separate windows. The spot and margin rebate is valid for 60 days from the day you sign up. The futures rebate is valid for 60 days from the day you enable futures trading, not from registration.
That gives you a small but real choice. If you plan to try spot first and futures later, there is no reason to open the futures account on day one. Wait until you actually intend to trade perpetuals, and the full 60 days of futures rebate will line up with your real activity.
Payouts arrive in USDT once a day, at a fixed time, covering the previous calendar day of trading (Poloniex calls it T+1). You can see them under Referral, then Referral Center, and claim them on the Wallet page.
What the rebate is worth in real money
Poloniex’s published spot schedule lists 0.2% for both makers and takersA maker adds an order to the book that waits to be filled, like a limit order. A taker fills against an existing order straight away, like a market order. at VIP 0, the level every new account starts at. Using that rate, here is what the 10% rebate returns over the full 60-day window.
| Spot volume per month | Fees per month at 0.2% | 10% rebate per month | Rebate over 60 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| $1,000 | $2 | $0.20 | $0.40 |
| $10,000 | $20 | $2 | $4 |
| $50,000 | $100 | $10 | $20 |
| $200,000 | $400 | $40 | $80 |
The pattern is clear. For someone buying a few hundred dollars of crypto, the code is worth pocket change. For an active trader moving $50,000 a month, it covers roughly a tenth of the fee bill for two months and then stops. Poloniex also lets you reach VIP 1 by holding 100 TRX or 2,000 USDT in assets, which drops spot fees below the VIP 0 rate. Combine the two and you trim costs further. Our maker vs taker fees guide explains why limit orders usually save you more over time than any referral rebate.
For futures we could not confirm the current VIP 0 rate from Poloniex’s announcements; the live schedule sits on its futures fee page. Whatever the rate, the same rule applies: 10% of net futures fees, for 60 days after you open the account.
Open Referral PageThe Mystery Box: what “up to 100 USDT” really means
Poloniex’s referral announcement adds a Mystery Box for both you and your inviter. The conditions are simple but strict:
- Log in to the Poloniex mobile app within 7 days of signing up.
- Reach at least 500 USDT of spot trading volume within those same 7 days.
Miss the app login and neither of you gets a box, even if you trade far more than 500 USDT on the website. Volume from stablecoin pairs, zero-fee trades, negative-fee trades and trades paid with coupons or trial bonuses is excluded. Each invitee can receive one box.
The box itself is the part to read carefully. It holds “cryptocurrencies worth up to 100 USDT”, drawn from a mix that includes BTC, ETH, TRX, DOGE, SHIB, USDT, futures trial funds and spot coupons. Poloniex does not publish the odds or the average value. A box valid for 7 days, with random contents and a 100 USDT ceiling, is a lottery ticket. Treat any page that calls it a “100 USDT bonus” with the same suspicion you would give other inflated crypto bonuses.
Reward Center tasks: separate from the code
Poloniex also runs new-user task campaigns through its Reward Center, and these come and go. One past campaign advertised “up to 711 USDT” for new users. Look at the breakdown and the figure shrinks fast: 600 USDT of it was lucky-draw maximums (up to 100 for sign-up, 100 for KYC, 200 for first deposit, 200 for first spot trade), and the largest fixed task was a 100 USDT futures trial fund that required 100,000 USDT of futures volume.
Those campaigns are open to new users whether or not they used a code, so they are not a reason to pick one code over another. They do matter for one reason: if you use a spot coupon from the Reward Center to pay a fee, that fee is excluded from your 10% rebate. The two do not stack on the same trade.
Zero-fee trading cancels the rebate
Poloniex has launched a Super membership with zero-fee spot and futures trading within set quotas, and introduced it with a cheap 30-day trial. Zero fees sound like a better deal than a 10% rebate, and for most people they are. Just know the trade-off: a zero-fee trade produces no net fee, so it produces no rebate and no commission for your inviter. You do not lose anything by having a code, but you will not earn on it during any zero-fee period.
Can you add a Poloniex referral code later?
No. Poloniex is explicit: the inviter’s code has to be entered when you first sign up, and “there is no way to apply the code” afterwards. Support cannot backfill it. The rules also forbid inviting accounts owned or controlled by existing customers, and breaking that rule cancels all unpaid referral rewards. So a second account just to collect a rebate is a bad idea.
If you are still deciding between exchanges, read our guide on how to use a referral code before you register anywhere. The “enter it before the account exists” rule is common across the crypto exchange referral programs we cover.
KYC and who cannot join
Poloniex says accounts need both Level 1 and Level 2 verification to take part in the referral program. Separately, it now requires Advanced KYC before any withdrawal, including on-chain withdrawals, API withdrawals and P2P selling. In practice, plan to upload an ID document and a selfie before you can take a single rebate dollar off the platform.
The country list is long. Poloniex blocks, at the IP level, the United States and all US territories, the Chinese Mainland, Afghanistan, Burma, Crimea, Cuba, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Libya, Mali, North Korea, Palestine, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen and Zimbabwe. Futures adds Morocco and Burundi. Referral rewards are not paid to frozen or closed accounts, or to accounts based in a prohibited country.
Who a Poloniex referral code suits
| Your profile | What you get | Our take |
|---|---|---|
| Occasional buyer | A few cents to a few dollars of rebate | Enter it anyway, it costs nothing |
| Active spot trader | 10% of a real fee bill for 60 days | Worth it; time your heaviest trading early |
| Futures trader | 60-day rebate from futures activation | Open futures only when ready to use it |
| US resident | Nothing, Poloniex is blocked | Look at US-friendly exchanges instead |
Compared with programs that pay a lasting kickback, such as KuCoin’s referral setup or MEXC’s referral code, Poloniex’s 60-day limit is the main weakness. Its strength is clarity: the formula, exclusions and payout timing are all written down. To see how rebate windows and commission splits compare across exchanges, read our explainer on how referral kickbacks work.
What works
- The invitee rebate is paid in USDT to your Poloniex wallet every day, not as a voucher.
- The 10% rebate covers both spot and futures fees, with separate 60-day clocks for each.
- Poloniex publishes the exact formula: rebate equals net trading fees times 10%, with all exclusions listed.
- The Mystery Box bar is low: an app login plus 500 USDT of spot volume inside 7 days.
Watch out for
- The rebate expires after 60 days, while the inviter keeps earning 20% of your fees with no end date.
- Fees paid with spot coupons, futures coupons or trial funds earn no rebate, so welcome coupons and the rebate do not stack.
- Mystery Box contents are random and capped at 100 USDT; coupons and futures trial funds inside it are not withdrawable cash.
- United States residents and US territories are blocked at the IP level.
A Poloniex referral code is worth entering if you plan to trade actively in your first two months: the 10% rebate is real USDT, paid daily. For a casual buyer it is small change, and the Mystery Box is a lottery with a 100 USDT ceiling, not a guaranteed bonus. Enter the code at sign-up or lose it for good.
