- Availability

- How the bonus unlocksWhat you must do (deposit, trade a volume, hold funds) before the bonus becomes usable or withdrawable.
- Sign-up bonus: claim in Promo Code Storage, no deposit needed to claim. First-deposit bonus: deposit worth $100 or more within 7 days of registering, once per account.
How to claim it, step by step
- Step 1
Open the Margex sign-up page through the referral link
The link stores the code in a browser cookie for up to 30 days. If no cookie is present, type the code into the referral field on the registration form.
- Step 2
Create the account and confirm your email
Registration needs only an email and password. Margex may ask for identity documents later, and some promotions require verification.
- Step 3
Claim the $50 sign-up bonus
Go to Wallet → Promo Code → Storage and claim the registration bonus. It sits in your Bonus balance, not your Wallet balance.
- Step 4
Make a first deposit of $100 or more within 7 days
A first deposit worth at least $100 in the deposited coin unlocks the first-deposit bonus. After day 7 no deposit qualifies, whatever the size.
- Step 5
Trade and let the bonus reimburse fees
When you close a position, up to 50% of its trade fee and funding is paid back from the Bonus balance into your Wallet balance in the collateral coin.
Margex is a derivatives exchange that trades perpetual contracts with leverage, and its referral program is built for the person sharing the link. Inviters get a flat 40% of their referrals’ trade fees, paid daily, with no tiers to climb. What the invited user gets is less obvious, because Margex’s own referral terms do not mention a discount for you at all.
So the honest answer to “what does a Margex referral code do?” is this. It attaches you to an inviter. Your welcome value comes from Margex’s standard new-user bonuses, which every new account can claim. Those bonuses are real and easy to unlock, but they are fee subsidies, not cash. This review explains exactly how they work and how far $50 actually goes.
- $50sign-up bonus, claimable with no deposit
- 50%maximum share of each fee and funding cost the bonus repays
- $100minimum first deposit for the first-deposit bonus, within 7 days
- 40%of your trade fees paid to the inviter, every day
What a Margex referral code actually gives you
Margex splits the offer into two separate systems that are easy to confuse on code-sharing sites.
| Part of the offer | Who gets it | What it is | Condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign-up bonus | You | $50 in bonus funds | Claim after registering |
| First-deposit bonus | You | Bonus funds, claimable once | Deposit of $100+ within 7 days |
| Referral commission | Inviter | 40% of your trade fees | You must be a verified user |
| Invitee fee discount | You | Not published | No rule in Margex’s terms |
The first two rows are new-user promotions. Margex does not say they depend on a referral code, and its help center describes them as available when you register an account. The third row is the referral program. Notice the last row: we checked Margex’s referral page, help articles and affiliate terms, and none of them describe a fee discount or kickbackA kickback is part of your own trading fee that the exchange or your inviter returns to you. With a 10% kickback, $10 of fees costs you $9. for the invited user. If a code page promises you “20% off Margex fees”, ask where that number comes from.
How Margex bonus funds work
Margex bonuses do not sit in your trading balance. They go into a separate Bonus balance shown at the top of the Wallet page. You cannot trade with it as margin and you cannot withdraw it. Instead, each time you close a position, Margex pays back up to 50% of that trade’s fees and funding from the Bonus balance into your normal Wallet balance, converted into the collateral coin you used.
When the Bonus balance reaches zero, fees are simply charged from the position’s margin as usual. Two more rules matter. First, withdrawing funds can deduct part of your bonus, in proportion to how much of your total account balance you take out. Second, Margex says one deposit can activate only one promo code, and bonuses do not stack on the same deposit or trade.
What the $50 sign-up bonus is worth
Margex charges a flat 0.019% maker fee and 0.060% taker feeA taker order fills immediately against existing orders, like a market order. A maker order waits in the order book, like a limit order, and usually pays less. on the notional value of each order, both when opening and when closing. Here is how quickly $50 of bonus is used up if you trade with market orders.
| Position size (notional) | Taker fees, open + close | Bonus pays (50%) | Round trips to use $50 |
|---|---|---|---|
| $1,000 | $1.20 | $0.60 | About 83 |
| $10,000 | $12.00 | $6.00 | About 8 |
| $50,000 | $60.00 | $30.00 | About 2 |
Put simply, you need about $83,000 of taker round-trip notional to draw the full $50. With 10x leverageLeverage lets you open a position larger than your deposit. At 10x, $1,000 of margin controls a $10,000 position, and losses grow just as fast as gains. that is about $8,300 of your own margin cycled through trades. Funding payments draw on the bonus too, so a trader who holds positions overnight uses it a bit faster.
The takeaway: the $50 is genuinely useful for an active futures trader, and close to irrelevant for someone who opens one small position a month. It never turns into withdrawable money on its own; it only reduces what you pay.
Open Referral PageThe first-deposit bonus and promo codes
The first-deposit bonus is for your first deposit worth $100 or more in the coin you send. It can be claimed only once, and only within 7 days of registering. Deposit on day 8 and nothing is credited, however large the transfer. Margex’s help center summary calls it a $50 deposit bonus; the promotions page itself does not repeat the amount, so check the figure in your Promo Code Storage before relying on it. It works like the sign-up bonus: up to 50% of fees and funding reimbursed.
Margex also runs promo codes, entered under Wallet, Promo Code. Three kinds exist. Standard codes apply straight away. Conditional codes depend on a deposit or trade; the help center shows one example worth up to a 100% deposit match capped at $1,000. Loss-coverage codes refund a fixed amount of realised losses on eligible positions. At the time of checking, Margex’s promotions page listed a welcome loss-coverage code worth up to $20 for users who deposit $250 or more and complete verification.
About the “up to $10,000 bonuses” banner
Margex’s pages show a banner reading “Register now to claim up to $10,000 bonuses”. We could not find any breakdown of that figure on the promotions page or in the help center. The concrete, documented offers add up to a few hundred dollars at most for a typical new user, and every one of them is non-withdrawable bonus funds or loss coverage. A headline total with no published terms is a pattern we cover in our guide to fake and inflated crypto bonuses. Use the documented $50 and first-deposit bonus to judge the offer.
What the inviter earns and why it matters to you
Margex pays referrers exactly 40% of the trade fees their referrals pay. The help center stresses it is a flat rate, not “up to”. Payouts are processed once a day between 23:55 and 23:59 UTC, credited to the Wallet balance in the same coin the fees were charged in, and can be withdrawn or traded.
The affiliate terms add conditions that shape how this works:
- Commission is only paid on referred users who have been verified by Margex and opened real trading accounts.
- Positions closed in under 180 seconds generate no commission, including copy-trading positions.
- Fees and funding paid from a referral’s Bonus balance do not generate referral payouts.
- Self-referral, spam and bidding on the Margex brand name in search engines are forbidden.
- Margex may end the agreement if an affiliate refers fewer than 10 clients within 12 months.
The bonus rule is a nice detail. While your $50 is paying half your fees, your inviter earns nothing on that covered half. And because Margex publishes no invitee share, any extra discount you are promised has to come from the inviter’s own pocket, outside Margex’s system. Our explainer on referral vs affiliate programs covers why this kind of side deal is risky.
How the referral is attached, and whether you can add it later
Margex uses a browser cookie. When you click a referral link, the inviter’s code is stored for up to 30 days, and the last link you clicked wins. If there is no cookie, you can type the code manually during registration. Margex’s terms do not describe any way to attach a code after the account exists, so assume you cannot. If the code matters to you, check that it shows on the sign-up form before you submit. Our guide on how to use a referral code covers the cookie problem in more detail.
KYC, withdrawals and restricted countries
You can register and claim the sign-up bonus with only an email address. Margex’s terms say it may require identity verification and other screening at its discretion, at any time. Referral commission is only paid on verified users, and some promo codes require verification. If you want predictable access, verify early rather than waiting for a withdrawal request to trigger it. Our KYC for crypto bonuses guide explains what to expect.
Withdrawals are processed once a day, between 12:00 and 14:00 UTC, according to the help center.
Margex does not serve citizens or residents of the United States (including Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands), Canada, Hong Kong, Seychelles, Bermuda, Cuba, Crimea and Sevastopol, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Sudan or Afghanistan, plus any jurisdiction under US embargo.
Is a Margex referral code worth it?
| Your profile | What you get | Our take |
|---|---|---|
| Active futures trader | $50 plus first-deposit bonus covering half your fees for a while | Good start; the bonus gets used |
| Occasional trader | Bonus mostly unused, nothing withdrawable | Fine, but expect little |
| Looking for an ongoing fee discount | None published by Margex | Compare BloFin or Bitunix |
| US or Canadian resident | Not eligible | Margex is closed to you |
Margex works if you want a simple futures venue with low flat fees and a small, clearly explained welcome subsidy. It does not work as a lasting discount. What works
- The $50 sign-up bonus can be claimed without any deposit and has no stated expiry on the promotions page.
- Bonus rebates land in your real Wallet balance as the collateral coin each time you close a position.
- Margex publishes flat fees of 0.019% maker and 0.060% taker, so the bonus value is easy to calculate.
- The first-deposit threshold is only $100 worth of crypto.
Watch out for
- Margex publishes no fee discount or rebate for users who join with a referral code; the 40% commission goes entirely to the inviter.
- Bonus funds are not withdrawable, and a withdrawal can deduct part of your remaining bonus balance.
- The bonus only covers up to 50% of each fee, so you need about $83,000 of taker round-trip volume to use the full $50.
- The "up to $10,000 bonuses" banner on the site comes with no published breakdown.
- US and Canadian residents cannot use Margex at all.
Margex suits futures traders outside the US and Canada who want their first weeks of fees partly covered: the $50 sign-up bonus and first-deposit bonus are easy to unlock and simple to understand. The referral code itself does nothing extra for you, because Margex publishes no invitee discount. Ignore the $10,000 banner until Margex explains it.
