Perp DEX Referral Codes and Fee Rebates Compared

On-chain perpetual exchanges do not hand out sign-up bonuses. What a referral code can do is shave a slice off every trading fee, and on some DEXs it does nothing for you at all. Here is which perp DEX codes actually pay the trader.

A perp DEX referral code is a very different animal from an exchange sign-up code. Centralized exchanges use referral codes to hand out welcome vouchers, deposit bonuses and fee kickbacks. Perp DEXsA perpetual futures exchange that runs on a blockchain. You trade from your own wallet instead of depositing to a company account, and positions never expire. are leaner. They have no welcome packages, no KYC funnels and no bonus wallets. What a referral can do on a perp DEX is return a small slice of the trading fees you pay, for a fixed period or volume. On some platforms, even that slice goes only to the inviter.

This hub compares the four perp DEX programs we have reviewed and explains how to judge any code before you link it to your wallet. The program table above uses the same review data, so the numbers match.

How perp DEX referrals work

When you trade perpetual futures on-chain, the venue charges a maker or taker fee on every fill. A referral program redistributes part of those fees. Typically, the inviter receives a share of your fees as commission, and the trader sometimes receives a discount on top. The discount is applied when the fee is charged or credited back shortly afterwards, so there is nothing to claim, unlock or withdraw.

That makes perp DEX codes honest in one sense: they cannot be dressed up as “free money”. But it also means their value depends entirely on how much you trade. A code that saves 4% of fees is worthless if you place three small trades and very valuable if you turn over millions.

The four programs compared

PlatformTrader discountInviter earnsLimit
Hyperliquid4% off fees10% of your fees, less discountFirst $25M of volume
Aster0–10%, set by inviterRest of the 10%365 days
edgeXNone published5–30% by levelLevels reviewed every 14 days
Jupiter PerpsNoneNo perps referralNot applicable

Hyperliquid’s offer is fixed and easy to understand. A code gives you 4% off trading fees for your first $25M of volume. The inviter earns 10% of your fees minus your discount for your first $1B. Creating a code requires $10,000 of the inviter’s own volume, which keeps out empty accounts. The discount does not apply to vaults or sub-accounts.

Aster uses a commission splitThe inviter decides how the referral commission is divided: some for themselves, some returned to you. A 5% / 5% split means each side gets half.. The default referral pool is 10% of your fees, and the inviter chooses how much of it to pass to you, for example 5% and 5%. A code with a 0% split gives you nothing at all, so always check the percentage shown before you sign up. Rebates run for 365 days and are credited by the next day, in the asset you paid fees in.

edgeX pays only the inviter. Referrers earn 5%, 15% or 30% of a friend’s fees depending on their level, which requires at least 5 valid friends and $500,000 of friends’ volume for the higher tiers. A friend counts as valid only after depositing 100 USDC and trading 50,000 USDC. As the invited trader, you get no published discount. The regular fees are 0.040% maker and 0.045% taker.

Jupiter Perps has no referral or promo code discount at all. The base fee is 0.06% to open and 0.06% to close a position, the same for everyone. Jupiter’s referral rewards exist only for its Spend card, which pays new users $20 after $1,000 of card spending in 30 days.

A worked example in real dollars

Say you trade $500,000 of taker volume per month on Hyperliquid at a 0.045% fee. You pay $225 in fees. The 4% referral discount saves $9 a month, or $108 a year. On Aster, with a code that passes 5% to you, the same fee bill would return $11.25 a month; with the full 10%, $22.50.

Now scale down to a casual trader with $20,000 of monthly volume. Fees are about $9, and a 4% discount saves 36 cents. That is the honest picture: perp DEX codes are worthwhile for active traders and almost irrelevant for occasional ones. They cost nothing to use, so there is no reason to skip them, but there is also no reason to pick a venue because of one.

Campaign rewards are not referral rewards

Perp DEXs run plenty of campaigns: points seasons, trading competitions, mystery boxes and bonus credits. These are often confused with referral bonuses. Aster sometimes hands out BonusUSD in separate campaigns, and edgeX gives vouchers and Mystery Boxes to traders who join its events. Neither can be withdrawn as cash; they can only be used as trading margin or fee credit under campaign rules.

Points programs deserve the same caution. Points can turn into a token airdrop, or into nothing. Some programs give referrers a share of their friends’ points, which is a strong incentive for code sites to promote them aggressively. Treat points as a lottery ticket attached to your trading, not as a reward with a known value. Our guide to referral kickbacks explains how to value a fee rebate against these softer perks.

Access, wallets and risk

None of the perp DEXs we reviewed requires KYC. You connect an EVM wallet on Hyperliquid, Aster and edgeX, or a Solana wallet on Jupiter, and some support email log-in through an embedded wallet. That convenience is matched by strict regional terms. Hyperliquid’s official app blocks US persons and Ontario. Aster prohibits the US, Canada, the UK, China, Russia, Ukraine and several sanctioned countries. edgeX blocks the US and Canada. Using a VPN to get around those terms puts your funds at risk if the platform enforces them.

If you are new to self-custody, set up and secure your wallet first. Our crypto wallets hub compares hardware and software wallet offers. And remember the main risk of perps is not fees but leverage: a 4% or 10% fee discount does nothing to protect you from liquidationLiquidation happens when losses on a leveraged position eat through your margin. The platform closes the position and you lose the margin., smart contract bugs or oracle failures.

How to choose a perp DEX code

First, choose the venue for its markets, liquidity and fees. Then check whether its referral program gives the trader anything. On Hyperliquid, any valid code gives the same 4%, so the choice of code does not matter. On Aster, compare the split: a code that returns 10% to you is worth twice as much as a 5% code. On edgeX and Jupiter Perps, a code saves you nothing, so use one only if you want to support someone you know.

Second, link the code before your first trade. Rebates are never applied retroactively to fees you already paid. Third, keep an eye on the limits: Hyperliquid’s discount stops after $25M of volume and Aster’s after 365 days.

If you compare these offers with centralized exchanges, the gap is clear. Many CEXs pay larger kickbacks and welcome vouchers but require KYC and custody. Our exchange referral codes hub shows those alternatives, and our trading bots hub covers tools that can place perps orders automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Do perp DEXs give a sign-up bonus?
Not through their referral programs. Hyperliquid has no deposit or sign-up bonus, Aster's referral gives a fee rebate rather than a bonus, edgeX publishes nothing for referred users, and Jupiter Perps has no referral discount. Campaign rewards such as Aster's BonusUSD or edgeX vouchers exist, but they are separate from codes and cannot be withdrawn.
Which perp DEX referral code gives the biggest discount?
Aster can return up to 10% of your fees if the inviter passes the full default 10% to you, but the split is chosen by the inviter and can be 0%. Hyperliquid gives a fixed 4% off fees for your first $25M of volume. edgeX and Jupiter Perps give the trader no referral discount.
Do I need KYC to use a perp DEX referral code?
No. Hyperliquid, Aster, edgeX and Jupiter Perps all work by connecting a wallet or logging in with email. Aster's terms allow limited identity checks in some cases. Jupiter only requires KYC for its Spend card, not for perps.
Can I add a perp DEX referral code later?
On Hyperliquid, a code is linked to your wallet and takes effect instantly, and it does not apply to vaults or sub-accounts. On Aster, the rebate applies to new users who join through the link and runs for 365 days. In general, link the code before your first trade, because fees already paid are not rebated retroactively.
Can US residents use perp DEX referral codes?
The official interfaces of Hyperliquid, Aster and edgeX block US users. Aster also excludes Canada, the UK and several other countries, and edgeX blocks the US and Canada. Check each platform's terms before connecting a wallet.
How much does a perp DEX referral discount actually save?
It scales with volume. On Hyperliquid, $1,000,000 of monthly taker volume at a 0.045% fee pays $450 in fees, and the 4% discount saves $18. A 5% Aster split on the same fees would save $22.50. For small traders, savings are a few dollars a month.
