How to claim it, step by step
- Step 1
Open the Bitpanda referral link first
Click the link from someone you know and register in the same browser session. Turn off ad blockers and do not use private mode, because Bitpanda tracks the referral with a cookie.
- Step 2
Create the account and verify your identity
Sign up with email, then finish identity verification with an ID document. No reward step pays until the account is verified.
- Step 3
Deposit euros
SEPA bank transfers in EUR are free on Bitpanda. Other methods such as PayPal can carry a fee (1.49% for PayPal at the time of checking).
- Step 4
Buy crypto or a Bitpanda Crypto Index
Your first €500 of qualifying purchases on Bitpanda Broker unlocks €5 for you and €5 for your inviter. Further steps pay at €1,000, €2,000, €5,000 and €10,000.
- Step 5
Check the voucher balance in your fiat wallet
Each step is credited straight to your default fiat wallet as a voucher balance that you can invest on Bitpanda.
People search for a “Bitpanda promo code” expecting a single code that drops cash into a new account. Bitpanda works differently. The bonus that is always available is the Tell-a-Friend programme: a referral link that pays the new user and the person who invited them in five steps, but only as the new user buys crypto. On top of that, Bitpanda occasionally runs campaign promo codes with their own short deadlines. A Bitpanda promo code from a campaign and a referral link from a friend are two separate doors, and the terms behind them differ a lot.
This page walks through both, using the numbers Bitpanda publishes in its help centre, its Loyalty and Rewards Terms and its cost transparency document. The goal is simple: show what the bonus is worth in euros for the way you would actually use Bitpanda.
- €100maximum reward for the new user (same again for the inviter)
- €500of crypto purchases before the first €5 step pays
- €10,000of purchases needed to collect the full €100
- 0.99%Broker fee on Bitcoin, which the rewards roughly refund
Bitpanda promo code vs referral link: two different offers
Most code pages lump these together. They are not the same thing, and you usually cannot stack them on one account because both are tied to how the account was created.
| Tell-a-Friend referral | Campaign promo code | |
|---|---|---|
| Availability | Permanent programme | Limited campaigns with fixed end dates |
| Reward | Up to €100 for you, up to €100 for the inviter | Fixed sum, e.g. €25 in Bitcoin |
| Trigger | Your cumulative crypto purchases, €500 to €10,000 | One qualifying purchase within a short window |
| Where it is applied | Referral link opened before sign-up | Profile → Got a promo code? in the app |
| Who benefits | Both sides | Only you |
Past campaign codes followed a recognisable pattern: a new, fully verified user enters the code in the app, buys at least a set amount of crypto within a few days of registering, and receives around €25 in Bitcoin some weeks later. Some versions also blocked selling the qualifying purchase for the first 48 hours, and all of them were limited to one promotion per user. These offers come and go. If there is no live campaign in your country, the referral link is the only Bitpanda sign-up bonus you can rely on.
How the Bitpanda Tell-a-Friend reward steps work
The referral programme pays out in steps. Each step is triggered when the new user’s cumulative qualifying purchases cross a threshold, and at each step both people receive the same amount.
| Friend’s invested volume | Reward per person | Running total each |
|---|---|---|
| €500 | €5 | €5 |
| €1,000 | €10 | €15 |
| €2,000 | €15 | €30 |
| €5,000 | €30 | €60 |
| €10,000 | €40 | €100 |
That makes a joint maximum of €200 per referred friend. Bitpanda credits each step to the default fiat wallet as soon as the volume is reached, so there is no 30-day wait. The inviter’s own purchases never count toward a friend’s steps, and the volumes of several friends are not combined: each new user climbs their own ladder.
Bitpanda’s help centre adds an important line: the programme and the reward amounts depend on your country of residence. The table above is the standard euro schedule. If your sign-up screen or app shows something different, that is what applies to you.
What counts as an investment, and what does not
This is the condition most code sites skip. Only two kinds of transactions move you up the ladder: buying cryptocurrencies and buying Bitpanda Crypto Indices (BCIsA Bitpanda Crypto Index, or BCI, is a ready-made basket of several cryptocurrencies that Bitpanda rebalances monthly, so you buy one product instead of picking coins.) on Bitpanda Broker. The terms define a qualifying purchase as one that triggers trading fees.
Everything else is excluded:
- Selling crypto, or swapping one coin for another
- Margin trading
- Trades on Bitpanda Fusion, the advanced trading platform
- Stocks, ETFs, precious metals and other non-crypto asset classes
- Purchases of the EURCV stablecoin
So buying €600 of Bitcoin, selling it and buying it back does not get you to €1,200. Only the buys count, which makes round-tripping expensive: every leg pays the Broker fee.
What the €100 is worth after Bitpanda’s fees
Bitpanda Broker charges a fixed percentage per purchase, set by coin tier. According to the cost transparency document, stablecoins and Bitcoin cost 0.99%, most other cryptocurrencies 1.49%, and small caps under €100 million market cap plus “Spotlight” assets 2.49%. Crypto indices carry 1.99%.
Put the reward ladder next to those fees and a clear picture appears.
| Cumulative purchases | Fees if all Bitcoin (0.99%) | Fees if altcoins (1.49%) | Reward earned so far |
|---|---|---|---|
| €500 | €4.95 | €7.45 | €5 |
| €1,000 | €9.90 | €14.90 | €15 |
| €2,000 | €19.80 | €29.80 | €30 |
| €5,000 | €49.50 | €74.50 | €60 |
| €10,000 | €99.00 | €149.00 | €100 |
For a Bitcoin buyer, the Tell-a-Friend reward works out as a near-total refund of Broker fees, and at the €1,000 and €2,000 steps it slightly exceeds them. For someone buying mid-cap altcoins at 1.49%, it covers roughly two thirds of the fees. That is the honest framing: the referral bonus is a fee rebate paid in steps, not a gift on top of free trading.
Open Referral PageIf you plan to trade actively, compare this with Bitpanda Fusion, where fees start at 0.25% and fall to 0.02% at very high volume. Fusion trades do not count toward the referral steps, though, so an active trader collects the referral reward on Broker purchases and then has to decide which platform suits later trades. Our guide to maker and taker fees explains why order-book fees are so much lower than broker premiums.
Is the Bitpanda referral reward withdrawable?
Bitpanda pays each step “as a voucher balance” into the fiat wallet. The current Loyalty and Rewards Terms state that rewards are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash. In practice, plan to invest the balance on Bitpanda rather than send it to your bank.
Bitpanda does not publish an expiry date for this voucher balance in the current terms. An older version of the loyalty terms gave referral awards a 180-day validity, so if you collect a step, using it in your next purchase is the safe habit.
Eligibility: who can and cannot use a Bitpanda referral
The new user must be genuinely new to Bitpanda. An existing account, even a dormant one, does not qualify, and Bitpanda does not allow multiple accounts per person. Its help centre warns that opening a second account leads to the deactivation of all of them, so creating a fresh account to collect a referral is a quick way to lose both.
Identity verification is a hard requirement. Bitpanda is a regulated European broker, and the KYC step (ID document plus a selfie or video check, depending on the country) has to be complete before any step can pay. Our guide to KYC for crypto bonuses explains what to have ready.
Geography is the next filter. You can invite friends from any country where Bitpanda verification is possible, but the programme is not available in the UK, and amounts may vary by country of residence. Search interest for a Bitpanda promo code is highest in Austria, Switzerland, France and Hungary. Those markets use the euro schedule or a local equivalent.
The cookie trap: why referrals fail to track
Bitpanda tracks the link with a browser cookie. Its help centre lists the usual culprits when a referral does not register: ad blockers, private or incognito mode, cleared cookies between clicking the link and finishing sign-up, and some antivirus, firewall or VPN tools. Because a referral cannot be added afterwards, a failed cookie means the reward is gone for good.
The safe routine is boring but effective. Open the link in a normal browser window with ad blockers paused, complete the registration in that same session, and only then download the app and log in. For more on avoiding this kind of mistake across exchanges, see how to use a referral code correctly.
Rules for the person sharing the link
The inviter’s side matters if you want to share a link yourself. Bitpanda only allows sharing with people you are directly engaging with, and only after they agree. Posting a referral link to large groups, for example on social media or in Telegram channels, is forbidden, as are cold calling, spam and any paid search ads that use the Bitpanda name. Breaking these rules lets Bitpanda withhold rewards for both sides. People who want to promote Bitpanda publicly are pointed to the separate affiliate programme, which pays a revenue share instead of fixed steps.
Is a Bitpanda promo code worth it for you?
| Your plan | Likely reward | Our take |
|---|---|---|
| Buy €100 of crypto once | €0 | Not worth chasing; €500 is the first step |
| Save €200 a month in Bitcoin | €5 after 3 months, €30 after 10 | Solid: rewards cancel most of the 0.99% fee |
| Move €10,000 into crypto over a year | €100 | Best fit, as long as the buys are on Broker |
| Trade actively on Fusion | Little to nothing | Fusion volume does not count |
| UK resident | €0 | Programme not available |
Bitpanda is a broker first, so it suits investors who buy and hold. If you want a lower-fee order book with its own European welcome offer, compare it with Bitvavo’s referral code, or browse all exchange referral programs side by side.
What works
- Both sides earn: the new user and the inviter each receive up to €100 in five clearly published steps.
- Bitpanda publishes the full reward table (€5, €10, €15, €30, €40) in its own help centre.
- Steps are credited instantly to the fiat wallet once the purchase volume is reached, with no waiting period.
- The €5 first step needs only €500 of crypto purchases, which a regular saver reaches in a few months.
Watch out for
- The full €100 requires €10,000 of crypto or index purchases. Sells, swaps, margin and Bitpanda Fusion trades do not count.
- Rewards arrive as a voucher balance; the Loyalty and Rewards Terms say they cannot be redeemed for cash.
- There is no ongoing fee discount for the invited user. Broker fees stay at 0.99% to 2.49% per purchase.
- The Tell-a-Friend programme is closed to UK residents, and reward amounts can differ by country.
A Bitpanda referral link makes sense if you plan to build a crypto position of a few thousand euros on Bitpanda Broker anyway: the rewards roughly refund the 0.99% fee on Bitcoin purchases. It is not free money. Nothing pays before €500 of buys, the top €40 step needs €10,000, and the balance is a voucher, not cash.
