Crypto.com Referral Bonus: Tiers, CRO Payouts and the Card Stake

A Crypto.com referral code puts you on a milestone ladder: trade $100, $500, $1,000 and $5,000 within 30 days of KYC approval and you and your inviter earn CRO at each step. The amounts depend on your country tier, and a separate $25 bonus is tied to staking CRO for a metal card.

How to claim it, step by step

  1. Step 1

Download the app and enter the referral code

Tap the referral link, or tap Have a Referral Code? on the app landing page and paste the code. You can also enter it on the email sign-up page.

  2. Step 2

Create the account and pass KYC

Confirm your email, add a phone number and submit an ID. Outside Europe, the phone number country and the ID country must match.

  3. Step 3

Trade within 30 days of KYC approval

Buy or sell crypto (not stablecoins or stocks) by card, fiat or crypto. Each milestone at $100, $500, $1,000 and $5,000 of volume pays CRO to both of you.

  4. Step 4

Optional: stake CRO or subscribe for the card bonus

Stake CRO or take the annual Level Up Pro plan to reserve a metal Visa card for an extra $25 each. The subscription bonus pays after 30 days.

  5. Step 5

    Check the referral dashboard

Your referral page shows a countdown, your volume and claimed milestones. Rewards arrive in your wallet within 24 hours of each milestone.

Gold payment card with a printed receipt

Most Crypto.com referral code pages still describe the old program: “$25 in CRO if you stake for a card”. The current Crypto.com referral bonus is different. It is a milestone ladder based on how much you trade in your first 30 days after KYC approval, with amounts set by which country tier you live in. The card-staking reward still exists, but as a separate $25 add-on.

This review walks through the tiers, how the CRO payouts work, how the referral program competes with Crypto.com’s own Welcome Bonus, and where locked CRO comes into play. Everything is taken from Crypto.com’s help center.

  • $75maximum referral reward per person in Tier 1 countries (incl. US)
  • $25extra Level Up bonus for staking CRO or an annual Pro plan
  • 30 daystrading window, counted from KYC approval
  • 24 hourstime for each milestone reward to reach your wallet

How the Crypto.com referral program works

You sign up with an inviter’s link or code, pass KYC and then trade. Crypto.com measures your trading volume, both buys and sells, in USD equivalent over the 30 days after your KYC approval. Each time you cross a milestone, both you and your inviter receive a reward in CRO, Crypto.com’s own token.

The details that decide whether you get paid:

  • The 30-day window starts at KYC approval, not when you began signing up, and ends at the same clock time 30 days later.
  • Eligible payments include crypto, credit card (including Apple Pay and Google Pay) and fiat.
  • One-time, recurring and executed target orders all count.
  • Stablecoins and stocks do not count toward volume.
  • Outside Europe, the phone number country and ID document country must match. Australian users need both to be from Australia.

Rewards are credited to both wallets within 24 hours of each milestone. That is much faster than exchanges that make you wait until the end of the qualification period.

Crypto.com referral rewards by country tier

Crypto.com sorts eligible countries into four tiers. The United States, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, Finland and Cyprus are Tier 1. Tier 2 includes the UAE, Canada, France, the Netherlands, Australia and others. Tier 3 includes Spain, Italy, Japan and New Zealand, among others. Tier 4 covers every other eligible country.

Volume within 30 daysTier 1 (incl. US)Tier 2Tier 3Tier 4
$100$5$5$2$1
$500$15$10$7$5
$1,000$25$20$15$10
$5,000$75$65$50$50
Max per referral$75$65$50$50

Read the table as running totals, not separate prizes. Crypto.com says milestones are tiered and that reaching $500 earns you both the $100 and the $500 milestone rewards. It also caps a Tier 1 referral at $75. The only way both statements hold is if the figures are cumulative: hitting $5,000 gets you $75 in total, not $5 + $15 + $25 + $75 = $120. If your dashboard shows something more generous, the dashboard is what counts.

The $25 Level Up bonus and card staking

On top of the trading milestones, Crypto.com pays a Level Up bonus of $25 each (all tiers) when the new user either stakes CRO or subscribes to the Level Up Pro annual plan to reserve a metal Crypto.com Visa card. The staking route pays within 24 hours. The subscription route pays only after 30 days of being subscribed.

This is where locked CRO enters the picture. Crypto.com’s Visa card benefits are tied to Level Up tiers, which you reach by paying a subscription or by staking CRO for a fixed term. On the US card page, for example, the Plus tier (Ruby Steel card, up to 3.5% card rewards) costs $4.99 a month, $49.90 a year, or a $500 CRO stake for 12 months. Basic (Midnight Blue) is available without a fee at 1.5%. Higher Pro and Private tiers require larger subscriptions or stakes, and the page does not list every amount.

Stake CRO for a cardCRO locked for the staking termWithin 24 hoursCRO price can fall while locked
Annual Level Up Pro planA paid yearly subscriptionAfter 30 days subscribedYou pay the fee whether or not you use the card

The bonus is real, but it should not be the reason you stake. A $25 reward on a stake that locks hundreds of dollars of a volatile token for a year is a bet on CRO, not a free card. If you want a crypto card mainly for spending, compare alternatives in our crypto cards section, such as RedotPay.

Referral bonus vs Welcome Bonus: you get one

Crypto.com also runs a Welcome Bonus for new users who sign up without a referral code. It uses the same milestone volumes, but each milestone unlocks a mystery box with a random reward:

Volume within 30 daysWelcome Bonus boxReferral reward (Tier 1)
$100$1 to $10$5
$500$5 to $20$15
$1,000$10 to $50$25
$5,000$25 to $100$75

The two programs are mutually exclusive. Entering a referral code enrolls you in the referral program and removes Welcome Bonus eligibility. Two practical differences tip the scale. Welcome Bonus boxes must be opened manually and expire if unclaimed after day 37, while referral rewards are credited automatically. And the referral program adds the $25 Level Up bonus, which the Welcome Bonus does not. Crypto.com also says it may A/B test the Welcome Bonus, with some users seeing a single-milestone version instead.

A worked example for a US user

Say you are in the US and plan to buy $300 of Bitcoin and $250 of Ether in your first month, then sell $200 of the Bitcoin a week later. Buys and sells both count, so your volume is $750.

That crosses the $100 and $500 milestones, worth $15 in CRO in total for you and another $15 for your inviter. To reach the $1,000 milestone ($25) you would need $250 more volume. To reach $5,000 ($75) you would have to trade nearly seven times as much. Each round trip through the app’s buy and sell screens costs a spread, so pushing volume just to unlock the next box can cost more than the extra reward. Trade what you planned, and treat higher milestones as a bonus if they happen.

Add the Level Up bonus if you were going to take a card anyway, and the total for that user is $40 in CRO.

The Crypto.com Exchange program and locked CRO

Crypto.com runs a separate referral program for the Crypto.com Exchange, with a different logic built entirely around locked CRO. A referee who passes advanced KYC gets a sign-up bonus based on their first CRO lockup: $10 in CRO for locking 1,000 to 4,999 CRO and $50 for 5,000 CRO or more. CRO received as a bonus does not count toward the lockup.

The referrer’s side is a tieredA tiered referral system pays more as the referred user commits more money. Here the inviter's bonus rises with the size of the friend's CRO lockup. bonus ranging from $10 (1,000 CRO locked) to $2,000 (5,000,000 CRO locked), plus 50% of the referee’s net trading fees for 12 months. On the Exchange, a code can still be added within one year of registration under Partnerships, then Referral. The Exchange referral is not available in the UK, Hong Kong or EEA member states, and App and Exchange codes only work across platforms if the referrer linked both accounts.

For most people opening the app to buy crypto, the App program above is the relevant one. The Exchange program matters to active traders who are comfortable locking a large CRO position.

Who can use a Crypto.com referral code

The App referral program is unavailable in the United Kingdom, South Korea, Uganda and Singapore. Canada runs a different set of rules, shown on the in-app referral screen. You must not have enrolled in the referral program or another promotional program before, and you need an active account at payout. Crypto.com can cancel rewards for fraud, manipulation or suspicious activity.

For the inviter, rewards stop after 100 successful referrals, with a stated ceiling of $10,000 (100 referrals at a $100 maximum each, meaning $75 of milestones plus the $25 Level Up bonus in Tier 1). Crypto.com also runs monthly referral leaderboard campaigns with CRO prize pools for top referrers. Those reward the inviter, not you, and change every month. Our guide on how referral kickbacks work explains why exchanges structure inviter incentives this way.

Crypto.com vs other US-friendly referral bonuses

Crypto.com$5$75 + $25 Level UpCRO
Gemini$50$50Crypto of your choice

At the low end, Crypto.com pays less than Gemini. At $1,000 to $5,000 of volume it catches up, and the card bonus adds more for users who wanted a card anyway. For more context, browse our exchange reviews and the sign-up bonuses hub.

Is a Crypto.com referral code worth it?

If you live in a Tier 1 country like the US and expect to trade at least $500 in your first month, the referral program is a solid deal, credited quickly and with clear milestone math. If you will only buy $100 once, the $5 reward is small, and the Welcome Bonus box at that level offers a similar range. In both cases, remember that the reward is CRO with a floating value, and do not let a $25 bonus talk you into locking up more CRO than you would otherwise hold. Our guide to misleading crypto bonuses covers how “up to” figures like the $10,000 referrer cap are built.

What works

  • US users are in Country Tier 1, the highest reward tier, worth up to $75 in CRO per referral.
  • Rewards are credited within 24 hours of each milestone instead of after a month-long wait.
  • Both buys and sells count toward volume, and card, fiat and crypto payments all qualify.
  • New users who skipped the code can switch from the Welcome Bonus to the referral program within 14 days of KYC approval, if they have not traded.

Watch out for

  • All rewards are paid in CRO, so their dollar value changes with the CRO price after payout.
  • The $5,000 milestone that unlocks the full $75 requires real trading volume and spread costs.
  • The $25 Level Up bonus needs a CRO stake or a paid annual subscription to reserve the card.
  • Stablecoin and stock trades do not count toward the volume milestones.
  • The program is closed to residents of the UK, South Korea, Uganda and Singapore.
Bottom line

A Crypto.com referral code is a good fit if you will actually trade a few hundred to a few thousand dollars in your first month, because the rewards scale with volume and US users sit in the top tier. For a one-off $100 purchase it pays just $5 in CRO, and the Welcome Bonus mystery boxes may serve you similarly. Remember that every reward is CRO, not dollars, and that the card bonus requires locking up money or paying a subscription.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Crypto.com referral bonus?
It depends on your country tier and trading volume within 30 days of KYC approval. In Tier 1 countries, which include the United States, the milestones are $5 at $100, $15 at $500, $25 at $1,000 and $75 at $5,000 of volume, with a maximum of $75 per referral. A separate Level Up bonus adds $25 each for staking CRO or subscribing to an annual Level Up Pro plan to reserve a metal card.
Can I add a Crypto.com referral code after signing up?
Sometimes. Users who signed up without a code are placed in the Welcome Bonus program but can switch by tapping 'Add a referral code' in the referral dashboard, as long as it is within 14 days of KYC approval and they have not made a first trade.
Can I get the Crypto.com Welcome Bonus and referral bonus together?
No. Crypto.com treats them as mutually exclusive. Signing up with a referral code enrolls you in the referral program and removes Welcome Bonus eligibility; you cannot receive both on the same account.
Is the Crypto.com referral reward paid in cash?
No. Rewards are paid in CRO, using the USD to CRO exchange rate at the moment the reward is credited to your wallet. After that, the value moves with the CRO price.
Is the Crypto.com referral program available in the US?
Yes. The United States is listed in Country Tier 1, the highest reward tier. The program is not available in the United Kingdom, South Korea, Uganda or Singapore.
Does a Crypto.com App referral code work on the Crypto.com Exchange?
Only if the referrer has linked their App and Exchange accounts. Otherwise the two platforms run separate referral programs, and an App code does not work for Exchange sign-ups or vice versa.
How many friends can I refer on Crypto.com?
Rewards are paid for up to 100 successful referrals, with a maximum of $10,000 across all of them. A referral counts as successful once the friend completes at least one trading milestone after KYC.
