How to claim it, step by step
- Step 1
Install the Phantom mobile app
Use the official app store listing or phantom.com. The referral code cannot be applied in the browser extension or Phantom Terminal.
- Step 2
Open the referral link or start sign-up
Tap a phantom.com/r/username link or scan the referrer's QR code on your phone, then begin creating a new wallet.
- Step 3
Check that the code appears on the sign-up screen
If it is not prefilled, type the username into the referral field during sign-up. After sign-up there is no way to add it.
- Step 4
Fund the wallet and make a first trade
Rebates come from eligible swaps, perps and predictions. Your referrer only starts earning after you fund the wallet and complete a first eligible trade.
- Step 5
Track rebates under Cash
Open Cash → Refer & Earn to see credits. Rebates land as CASH once your balance of unpaid rebates reaches $1.
For years the honest answer to “Phantom referral code” was that there wasn’t one. That has changed. Phantom now runs an official Referral Program with published rates: a Phantom referral code gives you 10% of your own trading fees back for three months, and the person who shared it earns 25% of Phantom’s net fees from your trades over the same period. Both sides are paid in CASH, Phantom’s stablecoin.
It is a genuine, if modest, benefit. Below is how it attaches to a self-custody wallet, what it pays on realistic volumes, the strict mobile-only sign-up rule and the scam pages that hijack this search term.
- 10%of your eligible trading fees rebated to you
- 3 monthsrebate window from the moment the code is applied
- 25%of Phantom's net fees paid to the referrer
- $1minimum before a rebate is paid out in CASH
How a referral code works on a self-custody wallet
Phantom is a self-custody walletA wallet where you alone hold the private keys. Nobody verifies your identity to create one and nobody can freeze it., so there is no exchange-style account with a sign-up form. What Phantom earns on is trading: swaps, perps and prediction markets routed through the app, each with a fee. The referral program sits on top of those fees.
When you create a wallet in the Phantom mobile app through someone’s link or code, Phantom records the referral. From then on, for three months, part of the fees you pay on eligible trades flows back to you as a rebateMoney returned to you after you have paid a fee in full. A 10% rebate on a $10 fee gives you $1 back later., and a larger slice goes to your referrer. Nothing is deducted at the moment of the trade; you pay the normal fee and the rebate is credited later.
| Who | What they get | How long | Paid in |
|---|---|---|---|
| You (referee) | 10% of your own eligible trading fees | 3 months from code applied | CASH |
| Your referrer | 25% of Phantom’s net fees from your trades | 3 months | CASH |
| Creators (by agreement) | Enhanced fee share | Set by contract | CASH |
Your referrer only starts earning after you fund the wallet and make a first eligible trade. Payouts on both sides happen at most once a day and only after the recipient has at least $1 waiting.
What the 10% rebate is worth in real money
The rebate is a percentage of fees, so its value depends entirely on how much you trade. Phantom’s fee on most swaps is 0.85%. Perps cost 0.095% per position action, made up of 0.05% for Phantom and 0.045% for Hyperliquid.
| Monthly activity | Fees per month | 10% rebate per month | Over 3 months |
|---|---|---|---|
| $1,000 of swaps | $8.50 | $0.85 | $2.55 |
| $5,000 of swaps | $42.50 | $4.25 | $12.75 |
| $20,000 of swaps | $170.00 | $17.00 | $51.00 |
| $50,000 of perps volume | $47.50 | about $4.75 | about $14.25 |
The perps line assumes the rebate is calculated on the full 0.095% fee you pay; Phantom’s terms define it as a share of the trading fees the referee pays, but the referrer’s 25% is calculated only on Phantom’s own net share. Either way, the takeaway is clear. For someone who swaps a few hundred dollars of memecoins a month, the rebate is pocket change. For a heavy Solana trader it adds up to a meaningful discount on the 0.85% swap fee, which is high compared with trading the same tokens on an aggregator directly.
The mobile-only, sign-up-only rule
This is where most people lose the rebate. According to Phantom’s help center:
- Codes can only be applied during sign-up in the Phantom mobile app. The browser extension and Phantom Terminal do not accept them.
- A code cannot be added after sign-up. There is no settings field and support does not attach one retroactively.
- After you sign up on mobile with a code, your eligible swaps in the browser extension also count.
If you already have a Phantom wallet, a code will not help that wallet. Creating a fresh wallet only to capture the rebate means new keys, a new recovery phrase to secure and moving funds, which for most people is not worth a few dollars a month.
Open Referral PageFinding and sharing your own Phantom code
Tap your profile avatar in the top left of the app and open Refer & Earn. Your code is your Phantom username and your link is phantom.com/r/ plus that username. You can copy the link, show a QR code or share it directly. Performance and the list of referred users appear under Cash → Refer & Earn, and Phantom sends a notification when earnings or rebates are credited.
One trap for sharers: if you change your username, existing referrals stay linked to you, but the old code stops working for new sign-ups and someone else may claim it. Update any links you have posted.
Where the rebate is paid and what CASH means
Rebates and referral earnings are credited in CASH, a dollar stablecoin, to your Phantom Cash balance. Phantom’s terms say payments may be withheld if the underlying fee was paid in an asset that cannot be converted to CASH without a materially adverse price impact.
CASH is usable money inside Phantom. Sending CASH is free apart from a one-time setup cost on Solana for recipients who never held it, and swapping Cash into USDC carries no fee. In the US (except New York), Cash can be withdrawn to a bank and spent with a virtual debit card. Bank features and card funding through Stripe need identity verification in the US and the EU; most other Cash features work without it.
KYC and regional limits
Creating a Phantom wallet and applying a referral code involve no identity check. Two caveats apply. First, Phantom’s terms let it require identity verification and tax forms such as a W-9 or W-8 before paying program rewards. Second, the program is open only in jurisdictions where Phantom makes it available, and Phantom does not publish that list.
Perps add their own restriction: they are not available in the United States, the United Kingdom and other territories, and Ledger hardware wallets are not supported for perps. In those places, the rebate can only come from swaps and other eligible trades.
Fake Phantom referral codes and phishing
Phantom’s popularity with memecoin traders makes it a prime phishing target, and “referral code” or “rewards” pages are a common lure. Watch for:
- Pages that ask you to import your recovery phrase to “activate” a referral or claim a bonus. A real code is a username typed during sign-up. Nothing more.
- “Claim your Phantom airdrop” sites that ask you to connect and sign. One malicious signature can drain a Solana wallet in seconds.
- Fake support accounts that reply to complaints about missing rebates.
- Lookalike domains. Real referral links start with phantom.com/r/.
See our breakdown of fake crypto bonuses for more examples of how these pages work.
Phantom vs other wallet and DEX referral programs
| Program | Your benefit | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Phantom | 10% of trading fees back in CASH | 3 months |
| MetaMask Rewards | Campaign points or perks, no fee discount | Per campaign |
| Jupiter | No referral discount on Jupiter Perps | Not applicable |
| Hyperliquid | 4% off fees when trading on Hyperliquid directly | First $25M of volume |
Compared with MetaMask, Phantom’s program is easier to value because it pays a fixed share of fees in a stablecoin. Compared with trading perps directly on Hyperliquid, you pay Phantom’s extra 0.05% per action, which a 10% rebate does not offset. For the general idea behind these splits, read how referral kickbacks work, and compare other self-custody options in the wallets category.
Should you use a Phantom referral code?
Yes, if you are about to set up Phantom on your phone anyway. Paste the code during sign-up and every eligible swap or perps trade in the next three months returns 10% of its fee as CASH. The numbers are small for casual users and decent for active traders, and the terms are clearer than most wallet programs.
No, if you already have a Phantom wallet. A code cannot be added later, and spinning up a new wallet for a three-month rebate trades real security effort for a few dollars. And whatever you do, keep your recovery phrase away from any page that promises a Phantom bonus.
What works
- Returns 10% of fees on eligible swaps, perps and predictions for three months after the code is applied.
- Phantom publishes both sides of the split (10% for you, 25% of net fees for the referrer) in its help center.
- Rebates are paid in CASH to your Cash balance, not as vouchers that expire.
- Swaps made in the browser extension count once you signed up on mobile with the code.
Watch out for
- The rebate stops after three months; it is not a lifetime discount.
- The code can only be applied in the mobile app during sign-up and never added later.
- The rebate is credited after settlement, so you still pay the full 0.85% swap fee up front.
- Phantom can change the rates or end the program, and the app does not show when your rebate window ends.
A Phantom referral code is worth using if you are about to create a Phantom wallet on your phone and plan to swap or trade perps in the first three months. The 10% rebate is real and paid in CASH, but it is small: about $4 a month on $5,000 of swaps. It is not a reason to pick Phantom, and any site asking for your recovery phrase to activate a code is a scam.
