- Availability
- Interface blocked for the US and Canada; sanctioned territories excluded.
- How the bonus unlocksWhat you must do (deposit, trade a volume, hold funds) before the bonus becomes usable or withdrawable.
- A friend counts as valid after depositing 100 USDC and trading 50,000 USDC. Inviter levels are reviewed every 14 days.
How to claim it, step by step
- Step 1
Open edgeX through the invite link, or skip it
A link records you as the inviter's invitee. You can also enter an invitation code later on the friend referral page. Either way, edgeX publishes no discount for you.
- Step 2
Connect a wallet or use email
Connect an EVM wallet such as MetaMask and sign, or choose MPC Wallet (email), enter the 6-digit code and let edgeX generate an address.
- Step 3
Deposit collateral
Deposit stablecoins from a supported chain. Wallet deposits need ETH (or the chain's gas token) for the transaction; email accounts deposit via Arbitrum.
- Step 4
Check the fee tier before trading
Regular users pay 0.040% maker and 0.045% taker on perps. VIP 1 starts at $10M of 14-day volume.
- Step 5
Look in the Event Center for campaigns
Mystery Boxes, cashback vouchers and bonus vouchers come from campaigns, not from the referral code. Read each voucher's withdrawal rules before using it.
The edgeX referral page is headed “Up to 30% Reward”, and code sites have turned that into “30% off” or “get 50% off your fees”. Read the page itself and the picture changes. The 5%, 15% and 30% figures are commission levels for the inviter, unlocked by bringing in several active, high-volume traders. The page lists no discount, bonus or voucher for the person who signs up with an edgeX referral code.
This review sets out exactly what edgeX publishes, what the code is worth to you as a new trader (nothing measurable), where edgeX’s real new-user perks come from, and what wallet onboarding, withdrawals and liquidation look like on this perp DEX.

What the edgeX referral program pays, and to whom
edgeX runs a classic tiered referral systemIn a tiered referral system the inviter's commission rate rises as they bring in more active users or more trading volume.. The inviter’s commission rate depends on two numbers measured together: how many valid friends they have, and how much those friends trade.
| Level | Valid friends | Friends’ trading volume | Inviter commission |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lv0 | Fewer than 5 | Below $500,000 | Not listed |
| Lv1 | 5 or more | $500,000 or more | 5% |
| Lv2 | 30 or more | $3,000,000 or more | 15% |
| Lv3 | 100 or more | $10,000,000 or more | 30% |
A friend becomes valid after depositing at least 100 USDC and trading at least 50,000 USDC. A level takes effect as soon as the inviter meets it and lasts 14 days. edgeX then reviews the friends’ volume, and if the requirements are no longer met, the level drops, down to Lv0 at the lowest. Rewards are settled daily at 00:00 UTC, appear under Pending Rewards, and the inviter claims them into the edgeX trading account.
So most people sharing an edgeX code earn nothing at all. Five friends who each deposit 100 USDC and trade 50,000 USDC make 250,000 USDC of volume, still only half the Lv1 threshold. Unlike Hyperliquid or Aster, edgeX does not give every referrer a base share from the first trade.
What you get as the invitee
The official referral page answers three questions: how to refer friends, what an active friend is, and when rewards are paid. None of the answers mentions a benefit for the person being referred. The edgeX documentation has no referral section, and its fee page talks only about volume-based tiers. In short:
- No fee discount. You pay the same rate as someone who joined without a code.
- No sign-up bonus from the referral program.
- No penalty either. Using a friend’s code costs you nothing and gives them credit toward their tier.
There is one practical advantage over many exchanges: you are not locked out if you forget the code. edgeX describes two ways to become someone’s invitee: open their link and sign up or log in, or log in and type their invitation code on the friend referral page.
edgeX fees: what you pay with or without a code
Since a code does not change your fees, the VIP table is what matters. edgeX ranks users by 14-day trading volume, spot and perps combined.
| Tier | 14-day volume | Perps maker / taker | Spot maker / taker |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular | Under $10M | 0.040% / 0.045% | 0.040% / 0.070% |
| VIP 1 | $10M or more | 0.038% / 0.043% | 0.035% / 0.060% |
| VIP 3 | $100M or more | 0.030% / 0.035% | 0.025% / 0.040% |
| VIP 6 | $7B or more | 0.015% / 0.020% | 0.000% / 0.025% |
Two things stand out. The maker fee is unusually close to the taker fee, so limit orders save little compared with venues that charge makers zero. And a $100,000 month of taker trading costs about $45 in fees, the same as Hyperliquid’s base rate, but with no referral discount to trim it. Our explainer on maker vs taker fees shows how to read tables like this.
Open Referral PageWhere edgeX’s real new-user perks come from
edgeX does reward traders, just not through the referral code. Its Event Center runs time-limited campaigns open to everyone, and at the time of checking the headline one was a Mystery Box program: 1 Basic Box per $150,000 of trading volume or per completed task. A box can contain USDC, EDGE tokens, points, cashback vouchers or prizes paid as USDC.
Read voucher terms carefully. A bonus voucher can be used as margin and offsets 20% of trading losses, but it cannot be withdrawn or transferred, and starting a withdrawal may cancel what is left of it. A position voucherA position voucher opens a trade with platform money. You keep realized profit, but the voucher itself has no cash value. opens a fixed trade without your own funds. edgeX covers its losses and fees, and you keep any realized profit. Both are campaign rewards, not referral rewards.
edgeX also ran an XP points season before its EDGE token launch. In that season, users invited by an official “Messenger” (an ambassador role) got 5% or 10% extra XP. That boost was tied to the season and to Messenger codes, not to ordinary referral codes, and the season was designed to end at the token launch.
No-KYC onboarding, deposits and withdrawals
edgeX needs no identity check. You either connect an EVM wallet such as MetaMask and sign a message, or choose the email option, which sends a 6-digit code and generates a wallet address for you through MPC (multi-party computation, a way of splitting the key so no single party holds it all).
edgeX’s documentation, written for its first version, sets these rules. The minimum deposit is 10 USDT. Deposits from Ethereum need about 15 confirmations, roughly 5 minutes. Email accounts deposit and withdraw only through Arbitrum. edgeX charges no deposit fee, but you pay the chain’s gas, so wallet users need ETH or the chain’s gas token. Withdrawals to Ethereum are batched and can take up to 14 hours. Withdrawals to other chains such as Arbitrum or BNB Chain cost 0.1% with a minimum of $1, and are limited by the asset pool on that chain.
edgeX has since launched Perps V2, which is denominated in USDC instead of USDT. Moving funds from V1 converts them at the prevailing rate and may carry fees. Check the deposit dialog for the current minimum and supported networks before you send anything.
Risks the referral code does not change
Liquidation. As on any perp venue, if your equity drops below the maintenance margin rate shown for each pair, your position can be liquidated. edgeX also uses auto-deleveraging, which can force-close profitable positions when the system has to absorb a bankrupt one.
Withdrawal delays and pool limits. Ethereum withdrawals can take up to 14 hours, and cross-chain withdrawals depend on the liquidity in that chain’s pool. In a market panic, that can slow your exit.
Smart contract and key risk. Your funds sit in edgeX’s contracts and pools. With a self-custodial wallet you alone secure the keys, and the terms note that edgeX cannot recover them.
Who can use edgeX
The edgeX terms bar anyone who lives in, is located in or is incorporated in the United States or Canada from the interface. They also exclude restricted territories, including Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Syria, Myanmar and the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. VPN use to get around this is explicitly prohibited.
Is an edgeX referral code worth it?
| You are… | What a code does for you | Better move |
|---|---|---|
| A new trader | Nothing measurable | Compare fees and campaigns |
| A friend of an active edgeX trader | Helps them toward Lv1 | Use their code; it costs you nothing |
| A would-be referrer | Pays only after 5 valid friends | Check you can reach $500,000 of friends’ volume |
| Hunting a fee discount | Not available | Look at Hyperliquid or Aster |
If a fee discount from a referral is what you want, Hyperliquid’s code gives a fixed 4% for your first $25M of volume, and Aster’s program can return up to 10% for a year. The perp DEX hub compares the whole category, and our guide to referral vs affiliate programs explains why some programs pay only the person who shares the link.
What works
- edgeX publishes the full inviter tier table and the exact definition of a valid friend.
- No KYC: a wallet signature or an email code is enough to trade.
- An invitation code can be added after sign-up on the friend referral page.
- Inviter rewards are settled daily at 00:00 UTC and claimable to the trading account.
Watch out for
- Referred users get no published fee discount or bonus from the referral program.
- Inviters earn nothing until they have at least 5 valid friends and $500,000 of friends' volume.
- A valid friend must deposit 100 USDC and trade 50,000 USDC, so most casual sign-ups never count.
- The interface is blocked for residents of the US and Canada.
Only use an edgeX referral code to support someone you know: it costs you nothing but saves you nothing either. If you want a fee discount from a referral, Hyperliquid and Aster publish one; edgeX pays the inviter only, and the best perks for new traders come from its campaigns.
